Cavalier Footwear – High Quality Ecommerce Photography

The project’s objective was clear from the start: to convey the quality of handcrafted leather shoes to customers through e‑commerce photography. In my studio, I photographed 40 pairs of shoes from multiple angles, applying techniques that ensured sharp focus across every detail—capturing craftsmanship with precision and consistency.

1. Research

Part of my process involves immersing myself in the brand, the maker, and the client. I spent a full day at the factory to understand what sets the product apart and how it is crafted. This experience gave me the context I needed to photograph details that highlight the uniqueness of the brand and its products—capturing authenticity through every image.


2. production

Showing every detail of the handmade shoes was essential. For each pair, I captured approximately 30 photographs, ensuring that every angle and texture was highlighted. This meticulous approach created a premium visual experience, allowing customers to appreciate the craftsmanship and quality in every shot.

Shaping with shadows

To manage the excess reflections on this particular shoe, I applied different techniques to control both shadows and highlights. This allowed me to balance the light and preserve the texture of the leather, ensuring the photographs conveyed the product’s true quality without distraction.

All in focus

I used focus stacking to keep the entire shoe sharp. By capturing multiple images at different focus points and blending them afterward, I achieved complete clarity across the product. This technique also allowed me to work within my lens’s sweet spot, ensuring maximum sharpness and image quality.

Perspective

By photographing the shoes from multiple angles, customers could appreciate the distinctive characteristics of each handcrafted leather piece. This approach highlighted textures, details, and craftsmanship, offering a complete and authentic view of the product.


3. Results

For the e‑commerce catalog, I produced white‑background photographs of each shoe from multiple angles, ensuring every image was in perfect focus. I delivered the files in high‑resolution, optimized formats for social media, and WebP versions for web use—making them SEO‑friendly and ready for digital platforms.


Outcomes

Creating high-quality product images on a pure white background requires expertise and careful lighting control. Products with different colors, materials, and designs interact with light in unique ways, affecting reflections and shadows. By strategically adjusting the lighting setup for each product, it is possible to achieve consistent, professional results while optimizing production time and workflow efficiency. For next projects i will organize the products by similarity.
